BTEC Nationals IT (AAQ) Level 3

AAQ IT Unit 1: Information Technology Systems

Unit 1 covers the core building blocks of IT systems, including hardware, software, data transmission, networks and cloud services. You’ll learn how digital devices, operating systems and online systems work, how data is shared and protected, and how IT solutions are chosen to meet real‑world needs. The unit also explores the impact of IT systems on organisations and society, including ethical, legal and security issues — giving you a practical understanding of how IT runs the modern world.

AAQ IT Unit 3: Website Development

Unit 3 focuses on the fundamental principles of website development, covering everything from initial research to the final build. You will investigate how layout patterns, such as F-shaped and Z-shaped designs, combined with typography and colour schemes, create effective user interfaces. The unit provides hands-on experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to develop responsive, accessible websites that meet specific client requirements and audience demographics. You will also master asset management and testing processes to ensure your digital solutions are functional, ethical, and fit for purpose.
